Can Bangladeshi students get scholarships in China?

Unofficial answer · Sources checked

Yes. The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh announced on 19 December 2025 that Bangladeshi students were invited to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) Type A, administered by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), for bachelor's, master's, doctoral and one-year Chinese language programmes, with applications made online at campuschina.org. The application deadline stated in that announcement was 10 January 2026; that date belongs to that intake and has passed, and no notice for a later intake had appeared on the embassy page when it was checked. The announcement describes the award as fully funded and lists tuition, housing, medical insurance, a monthly living allowance and international airfare as covered.

What the embassy announcement says

The announcement gives four programme types: bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctoral (PhD) degree and a one-year Chinese language programme. It states that all applicants must complete the application online through the CSC website campuschina.org, and advises applicants to follow the instructions and submit all required documents within the stipulated time. It refers to "all required documents" without listing them in the text read for this page, and the announcement ends with an Appendix heading that prints no items.

The coverage list, as the embassy wrote it, is: full tuition fees; on-campus accommodation; comprehensive medical insurance; a monthly living allowance of approximately CNY 2,500–3,500, depending on programme level; and international round-trip airfare. The announcement also says that applicants seeking official guidance, clarification or information about the application process are encouraged to contact the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh.

What the CSC scholarship guide says

The Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship sets out coverage in section III and eligibility in section IV. Section III lists tuition fees; free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy; a stipend of CNY 2,500 per month for undergraduates, CNY 3,000 per month for master's students and general scholars, and CNY 3,500 per month for doctoral students and senior scholars; and comprehensive medical insurance at CNY 800 per person per year, or CNY 400 per person for programmes lasting less than six months.

Section IV sets the age lines and entry requirements. An applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health mentally and physically. The age lines are: under 25 for an undergraduate programme, under 35 for a master's programme, under 40 for a doctoral programme, under 45 for a general scholar programme and under 50 for a senior scholar programme. Applicants for bachelor's programmes must take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) and upload a valid score report; the guide gives the CSCA website as www.csca.cn. Chinese-taught master's and doctoral programmes require HSK (Level 4); Chinese-taught general and senior scholar programmes require HSK (Level 3), with Chinese language majors excluded from the general scholar HSK line. For a programme taught in a language other than Chinese, the applicant must meet the university's own admission requirements for language proficiency and academic ability.

Where the two lists differ

Item Embassy announcement, 19 December 2025 CSC guide, section III
Tuition Full tuition fees Tuition fees
Housing On-campus accommodation Free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy
Monthly allowance Approximately CNY 2,500–3,500, depending on programme level CNY 2,500 undergraduates; CNY 3,000 master's students and general scholars; CNY 3,500 doctoral students and senior scholars
Medical insurance Comprehensive medical insurance Comprehensive medical insurance: CNY 800 per person per year; CNY 400 per person for programmes under six months
Airfare International round-trip airfare Not listed in section III

The two lists overlap but are not identical. The embassy gives a range where the guide gives three fixed amounts, and the guide's amounts sit inside that range. The embassy provides on-campus accommodation, while the guide allows either a free dormitory or an accommodation subsidy. Airfare appears in the embassy's list and not in section III of the guide. Neither page states which list applies to a given award, and this page does not resolve that; the embassy's own announcement points applicants to the embassy for clarification.

What the official pages do not say

Neither of the two pages read for this page prints an academic year, so the intake each coverage list belongs to is not stated on them. The pages read do not state how many awards are available to Bangladeshi applicants, how applicants are selected, or whether a further intake will open. The embassy page carries a publication date of 19 December 2025; the guide page carries no publication date. For a current round, ask the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh or the China Scholarship Council.
