Study in China Q&A

How do I get a China student visa from Bangladesh?

Unofficial answer · Sources checked

For a long-term study visa (X1) from Bangladesh, the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh's September 2025 notice lists a Confirmation Form for Study in China (Form JW201 or JW202) and the original admission letter from the school. Self-funded applicants must also submit a bank statement showing at least 2500USD each year for study in China, a requirement set by this embassy. The notice lists no documents for the short-term X2 visa.

What the embassy notice lists for X1

The notice's X1 row covers personnel who will study in China for more than 180 days. For university students, it lists:

  • The Confirmation Form for Study in China (Form JW201 or JW202).
  • The original copy of the school's admission letter.
  • For applicants with scholarship support, relevant proof of that support.
  • For self-funded applicants, a bank statement proving at least 2500USD each year for study in China.

For primary and secondary school students, the same row lists a Confirmation Form for Elementary Stage Students Study in China.

The 2500USD bank-statement amount is this embassy's requirement, as printed on its page. It is not a rule that applies to every Chinese mission. The notice does not say what a scholarship proof must contain.

What the regulations say about X1 and X2

Article 6, item (11) of the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners (English text published by the National Immigration Administration) states that the X1 visa is issued to persons who apply for long-term study in China, and the X2 visa is for persons who apply for short-term study in China.

The regulation does not give day limits. The embassy notice sets the limits: X1 for more than 180 days, and X2 for no more than 180 days.

Fees for Bangladeshi passport holders

The embassy's notice of 7 January 2026 prints reduced visa fees for Bangladeshi passport holders in Bangladesh Taka. It states that the reduced fees apply until 31 December 2026. The fees are listed by number of entries and by delivery time, not by visa category.

Type of entry Regular delivery (4th working day) Express delivery (3rd working day) Urgent delivery (2nd working day)
Single entry 2400 5100 6400
Double entry 3600 6300 7600
6 months multiple 4800 7500 8800
12/24 months multiple 7200 9900 11200

The table has no separate X1 or X2 line. The notice does not say which row applies to a student visa, so ask the embassy or visa centre before you pay.

What the official pages do not say

The embassy notice lists no documents for X2, and the page does not fill that gap. The official pages read for this page do not state a fee for X1 or X2 by category. They also do not state how long a visa takes beyond the working-day delivery options in the table.

For questions the notices leave open, contact the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh or the visa centre it names. For questions about your university place or the study itself, contact the university's international student office.
